The Canadian head of an Oscar-winning narrative about Alexei Navalny has a directive for Russian President Vladimir Putin after affirmation the country's resistance chief passed on while carrying out a jail punishment in an Icy reformatory state.
"You might think you have tackled an issue, yet Alexei Navalny is undying, and the world is coming," Daniel Roher said in a video call from his Toronto home on Friday.
Roher, whose film "Navalny" won the Oscar for best narrative element at the 2023 Institute Grants, said he was paralyzed by the underlying reports of the conspicuous Putin adversary's passing, despite the fact that he had expected it.
"I'm astonished at how stunned I'm," said the Toronto-conceived movie producer.
"For any individual who has followed the tale of Alexei or who's seen our film, the chance of his passing, of his homicide, was exceptionally obvious and extremely present. I actually didn't feel that it would work out," he said.
